The 110th Pennsylvania Farm Show opened with a ceremony featuring Betsy Ross, who highlighted the vital role of Pennsylvania farmers in shaping America. The event included a stirring national anthem performance by 14-year-old Carly Green, speeches from state officials, and a ribbon-cutting to officially start the nine-day agricultural expo. The show, the largest indoor agricultural event in the nation, showcases over 5,000 animals, 12,000 competitive entries, and 250 commercial exhibits, alongside diverse activities such as weaving demonstrations, contests, and musical performances. This year’s theme, “Growing a Nation,” honors Pennsylvania’s historical contributions to agriculture and the nation’s 250th anniversary, symbolized by a life-size butter sculpture depicting Betsy Ross, the Liberty Bell, and the Founding Fathers.
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy a packed schedule including a mullet contest, tractor square dance, and rodeo, as well as patriotic-themed milkshakes from the PA Dairymen’s Association. The event also highlights regional exhibitors like WILD Meats from Wilkes-Barre and artist Georgie LeHoop, who creates unique drumstick-painted artwork. The Farm Show offers free entry and convenient parking options, drawing large crowds eager to experience Pennsylvania’s rich agricultural heritage and community spirit.
