The petition, driven by the welfare charity Redwings—which has lost three rescued horses due to fireworks—has prompted MPs to ask the government to reconsider its initial dismissive response. The petitions committee found the government’s reply inadequate and requested a revised response, which will be published once received.

Redwings has been actively campaigning for change through surveys, government meetings, and upcoming events in Parliament. Despite the government’s focus on promoting responsible firework use under current regulations, the charity remains critical of the repeated generic responses and welcomes the committee’s push for a more direct engagement with the petition’s demands.
