Only Folks and Horses Concert Featuring Legends of Lancashire Folk to Support World Horse Welfare in Blackpool

The “Only Folks and Horses” concert will be held on September 14 at the World Horse Welfare Penny Farm in Blackpool, starting at 4 pm. The event features Legends of Lancashire Folk, a new band formed by former Houghton Weaver David Littler, alongside Paul Johnston, Dave Mather, and Anthony Quinn. The concert supports the World Horse Welfare charity and aims to raise awareness of their work. A special highlight is blind accordionist James Butcher fulfilling his lifelong dream of performing at a concert, facilitated by a chance meeting with Littler’s mother-in-law.

Tickets are priced at £22 for adults and £20 for children, including a hotpot supper with vegetarian options, refreshments, and a raffle. The gig will take place indoors, with attendees advised to bring chairs. This event follows the recent honor bestowed on founding members of The Houghton Weavers, including David Littler, who were granted the Freedom of Westhoughton earlier this year. The Houghton Weavers, established in 1975, are renowned for their significant contribution to folk music over five decades.
