Olympic Peninsula Equine Network (OPEN) Continues Rescuing and Caring for Horses

The Olympic Peninsula Equine Network (OPEN) is not closing and continues its mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming neglected horses. Co-founder Diane Royall reassured the community amid rumors, highlighting OPEN’s ongoing work with horses like Banner, who arrived malnourished but is now recovering and will be retrained for adoption. OPEN has helped hundreds of horses over 14 years, supported by dedicated volunteers who maintain the facility, provide care, and assist with training and hoof trimming.

OPEN also offers educational support to horse owners and practical help such as arranging euthanasia and burial for sick or elderly horses. The organization is prepared to assist with disaster response by housing displaced horses, with facilities designed to accommodate large numbers. OPEN seeks volunteers for administrative roles and a paid treasurer/bookkeeper position to help sustain its operations. Located near Carlsborg, OPEN also runs a used tack shop by appointment and encourages community involvement in its rescue and disaster efforts.
