The 2025 Oceana 4-H Horse Camp and Kaitlynn Scott Memorial Open Youth Horse Show, held July 10-12 at the Oceana County Fairgrounds, brought together 26 youth members and 10 volunteers for a weekend of learning, fun, and community spirit. Activities included hands-on horse care, riding games, educational clinics on showmanship and judging, equitation practice, and creative projects like leathercraft. The event honored the legacy of Kaitlynn Scott, a beloved 4-H member, with a special pizza dinner and homemade ice cream, fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where participants celebrated each other’s efforts beyond competition results.
Saturday’s horse show introduced new cart and driver classes alongside traditional jumping and speed events, highlighting the versatility of the horses and the skills of the youth riders. High point winners were recognized, but the true highlight was the camaraderie and mentorship among participants, volunteers, and families. Organizers emphasized that 4-H is about hard work, growth, and community, inviting others to join and experience the enriching environment that events like this create.
