The Ocala Breeders’ Sales (OBS) March 2-Year-Olds Sale demonstrated strong market performance beyond initial figures, tying a record with seven horses sold for $1 million or more and achieving a record March gross of over $72 million from 451 horses sold. Unlike typical market polarization seen in past years, this sale saw no segment lose ground compared to 2025, with notable price increases across multiple deciles, especially in the middle market where average prices jumped significantly. Buyers faced stiff competition, often stretching budgets to secure preferred horses, reflecting robust demand.
Post-sale activity also indicated a healthy market, with more horses sold privately after the auction at higher average prices than the previous year. Consignors like Randy Miles highlighted strong interest across the board, particularly in middle-tier horses, and expressed optimism for the upcoming OBS Spring 2-Year-Olds Sale. The rise of new ownership partnerships was noted as a positive trend, helping to sustain engagement and share costs within the industry.
