Obituary: Remembering Karen Lynn Conrod (1951–2025)

Karen Lynn Conrod (nee Angus), born February 5, 1951, passed away suddenly on June 26, 2025, at age 74 in Portage la Prairie. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Fred, their two sons Tyson and Reece, extended family, and many friends. Karen grew up on a farm near Dauphin, MB, was deeply involved in 4H during her youth, and demonstrated a strong work ethic from an early age. After meeting Fred through her work with the Department of Education, they married in 1974 and moved frequently due to Fred’s RCMP career before settling in Portage la Prairie. Karen had a long career in education administration and was known for her dedication to family, community involvement, and love of baking, gardening, and reading.

Karen’s life was marked by kindness, loyalty, and service, living by the 4H pledge throughout her life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother figure, always supporting her children’s activities and creating lasting memories with family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 4, 2025, at Trinity United Church in Portage la Prairie, with a livestream available. The family thanks medical staff for their care and invites donations in Karen’s memory to Diabetes Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
