The sale showcased high-quality New Zealand-prepared racehorses with proven track potential, attracting strong demand particularly in the middle market segment. Top lots included a Zoustar colt sold for $825,000 to Hong Kong buyer Mr. Yeung Kin Man, who purchased 16 horses in total, and a Written Tycoon colt bought by Hong Kong trainer James Cummings for $775,000. Leading vendors included Riversley Park, which sold 34 lots for $6.5 million, while Landsdowne Park led by average price at $277,500.
The sale highlighted the ongoing international interest in New Zealand bloodstock, especially from Hong Kong and China, with multiple buyers investing heavily to bring quality horses to their racing circuits. The event continues to grow in stature, supported by vendors and buyers alike, and sets the stage for the upcoming 100th National Yearling Sale in January 2025, a historic milestone in New Zealand thoroughbred sales. The sale’s success underscores the strength and appeal of New Zealand’s breeding and racing industry on the global stage.
