Noah Lim’s Smarter Training Pays Off with World Championship Silver in Jiu-Jitsu

Singaporean jiu-jitsu athlete Noah Lim has shifted from intense, all-out training to a smarter, more focused approach, balancing his sport with medical studies. This change has led to significant success, culminating in a silver medal in the men’s Under-69kg category at the Ju-jitsu International Federation World Championships in Bangkok. Lim defeated several top rivals, including South Korea’s Joo Seong-hyeon, marking his first world-level podium finish after multiple near misses in continental competitions. His training now emphasizes skill development, strategic thinking, and collaborative feedback with partners, inspired by the methods of Taiwanese-German grappler Jozef Chen.

Lim plans to compete at the SEA Games in December, aiming for a fourth regional gold while focusing on long-term growth rather than just immediate results. Despite close matches at the world championships, he remains committed to improving his techniques and handling competition pressure. The Ju-jitsu Association of Singapore praised Lim’s achievement as a historic milestone, highlighting his rise to world No. 2 and encouraging other athletes to pursue excellence.
