No. 2 Georgia equestrian secured a decisive 13-5 victory over UT Martin at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex in Tennessee. Georgia dominated the fences competition with a 5-0 sweep, highlighted by Tessa Downey’s top score of 87 aboard Rafiki. Flat riders contributed a 4-1 win, while horsemanship and reining events both ended in 2-2 ties. Despite UT Martin’s home advantage and familiarity with their horses, Georgia overcame the challenge to claim a strong overall win.
Individual honors included flat MOP awarded to Ella Duffy with an 85 on Rebel, and jumping seat MOP to Tessa Downey for her 87-point fences ride. UT Martin took the western MOP awards with Ruber Gunderson earning horsemanship MOP and Claire Carpenter securing reining MOP. Georgia will next compete at home against No. 5 Texas A&M on February 7 at the UGA Equestrian Complex.
