Construction is progressing on two of five new horse barns at Wellington International, set to host the Global dressage Festival (GDF) for the 2027 winter circuit. Each barn will feature 60 spacious stalls with higher roofs for better airflow, improving on the existing facilities. Meanwhile, concrete pads are being prepared for the remaining barns, and four new outdoor arenas completed last year are currently used for lunging and training. A grass derby field, developed in 2025, is also maturing as a replacement for the popular field at the current Global facilities.
This major expansion follows a redevelopment agreement where the existing Global grounds are being transformed into a luxury housing and recreation complex, with Wellington International becoming the new premier home for dressage and hunter-jumper events. Wellington International, known for hosting the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) and GDF, remains a leading U.S. equestrian venue. Its success has inspired the creation of other top-tier equestrian centers in Florida, such as the World Equestrian Center in Ocala and TerraNova near Sarasota.
