On April 18, the New Haven Museum will host author Kostya Kennedy to present new insights from his book, The Ride: Paul Revere and the Night That Saved America, commemorating the anniversary of Paul Revere’s famed midnight ride. Kennedy reveals that Revere was part of a coordinated effort involving about 40 riders who warned of British troop movements, a pivotal event that helped transition the American Revolution from scattered skirmishes to full-scale war. Drawing from extensive archival research, Kennedy aims to deepen the understanding of the ride’s complexity and significance, highlighting the contributions of many unsung patriots and debunking popular myths, such as Revere’s alleged cry, “The British are coming!”
Kennedy emphasizes that Revere’s ride was not just a legendary moment but a reflection of the values and resolve foundational to America’s birth. The event underscores how small, coordinated actions by a dedicated network of individuals can profoundly influence history. The free presentation at the museum includes a reception and requires registration, inviting attendees to explore the layered story behind one of America’s most iconic historical episodes.
