New Floods Cause Rescues and Evacuations Across Texas

A new storm system on July 13, 2025, caused dangerous flooding across North and Central Texas, prompting multiple rescues and evacuations in counties including San Saba, Lampasas, Schleicher, Menard, Kimble, and Sutton. Governor Greg Abbott reported ongoing rescue operations and expanding efforts to monitor rising waters, particularly in Kerrville, where recovery from earlier catastrophic floods that killed at least 120 people is still underway. Emergency officials issued mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders as rivers such as the San Saba and Lampasas reached major flood levels, with some search efforts temporarily suspended due to flash flood risks.

The National Weather Service extended flood watches as saturated soil conditions from previous storms heightened the risk of further flooding, with additional rainfall expected overnight. Authorities urged residents to avoid riverbeds and roads, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation as rivers rose rapidly. This latest flooding follows a series of deadly flash floods in Texas this summer, including a severe event in San Antonio in June that resulted in at least 13 deaths and numerous rescues.
