The Nevada Humane Society (NHS) is currently waiving adoption fees for large dogs over 50 pounds that have been at the shelter for two weeks or more, as part of the Lucky in Love program sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition. This initiative aims to help big dogs, which often face longer shelter stays due to housing restrictions and other challenges, find “fur-ever” homes. The free adoption offer is available at NHS locations in Reno and Carson City until Tuesday, March 17th.
NHS CEO Jerleen Bryant advises potential adopters to consider their lifestyle and the dog’s energy level to ensure a good match. The shelter offers a variety of large dogs, including those with specific needs or temperaments, and staff are ready to provide detailed information to help adopters find the right companion. Interested individuals can visit the NHS website to view available dogs marked with a shamrock, indicating eligibility for free adoption.
