Nebraska State 4-H Horse Show Brings Together Young Riders from Across the State

The 48th annual Nebraska State 4-H Horse Show is currently taking place at Fonner Park, featuring 186 exhibitors and over 400 horses from 47 counties across the state. This event offers young riders, like 9-year-old Megan Macklin and 8-year-old Katelyn Crook, a valuable hands-on learning experience and the opportunity to compete against some of Nebraska’s best young equestrians. Participants have spent countless hours preparing, riding daily after school, and learning important horse care skills, especially amid the challenges posed by this summer’s drought.

Beyond competition, the show fosters strong family connections and community spirit among the youth involved. Riders like 4-year 4-Her Zane Anderson emphasize the event’s deep roots in family tradition. The horse show began on Sunday and will conclude on Wednesday with speed events, celebrating the dedication and talent of Nebraska’s young horse enthusiasts.
