Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen was hospitalized after being bucked off a horse during a ride with family members. His injuries were serious enough to warrant transportation to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he remains alert and in continuous touch with his team. Doctors expect him to spend several days in the hospital, potentially keeping him hospitalized for Christmas.

If the governor is unable to fulfill his duties, Lt. Gov. Joe Kelly would assume responsibilities until Pillen returns. Pillen, a veterinarian and former University of Nebraska football player, has received an outpouring of support and well wishes from various political figures and organizations in Nebraska. The Governor’s Office expressed gratitude for the thoughts and prayers from Nebraskans during this time.

Nebraska politicians, including U.S. Senators and Representatives, as well as the Omaha Mayor, have all expressed their support and prayers for Governor Pillen’s quick recovery. Both the Nebraska Republican Party and Nebraska Democratic Party have also extended their well wishes to the governor and his family during this difficult time.
