Nearly 600 Neglected Pigeons Rescued from Abandoned North Carolina Shed

Rescue teams in Greensboro, North Carolina, discovered approximately 550 pigeons crammed inside a shed—far exceeding the initially reported 300 birds. Many of the pigeons were found emaciated and in poor health, requiring immediate veterinary care. The rescue involved Guilford County Animal Services and Carolina Waterfowl Rescue, who methodically transported the birds for treatment.

The pigeons, previously owned by a tenant of the vacant property, are now under medical evaluation and rehabilitation. Rescuers emphasized focusing on recovery rather than blame, acknowledging the difficult circumstances. Once healthy, the pigeons will be made available for adoption to ensure their well-being moving forward.
