National Thoroughbred Week (NTW), running from November 20 to 24, offers Kiwis a unique opportunity to explore the thoroughbred horse racing industry firsthand. Organized by a volunteer committee from both New Zealand and Australia, the event aims to shift public perception by showcasing the care, professionalism, and passion behind the sport. Activities include guided tours at key equine hubs like Westbury Stud, Haunui Farm, Byerley Park, and Pukekohe Park, where visitors can meet horses, trainers, and see the facilities that nurture racing talent. The New Zealand Horse Ambulance Trust will also demonstrate their specialized ambulance designed for equine emergencies.

NTW co-founder Vicky Leonard and New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing CEO Matt Ballesty emphasize the event’s role in fostering transparency, education, and community connection.
