The Naqu City Qiaqing Horse Racing Festival opened on September 5, 2025, at the Gesar Horse Racing arena in Tibet, celebrating the region’s 60 years of progress under the Party’s leadership. The event featured a grand opening ceremony with city leaders, officials, and guests from various sectors, highlighting traditional Chinese culture and Naqu’s development achievements. The festival included 13 horse races and two traditional equestrian events, with horses classified by height and age to ensure fairness. Cultural performances themed around equestrian culture and a gala celebrating Tibet Autonomous Region’s anniversary enriched the festivities.
In addition to the sporting events, the festival showcased Naqu’s ethnic culture and local specialties through a cultural and tourism promotion zone with 38 booths offering traditional costumes, cuisine, and crafts. Over 70 enterprises participated in exhibitions and sales of local agricultural, livestock, and handicraft products, providing a platform for market expansion and cultural exchange. The festival thus combined sports, culture, and commerce to promote Naqu’s heritage and economic vitality.
