Nanaimo Teen Dane Anson Makes History Winning U.S. Hunter Jumper Association Gladstone Cup

Nanaimo teen Dane Anson made history on July 25 by becoming the first Canadian to win the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic West in Del Mar, California. Riding his seven-year-old gelding Celestino, Anson expressed excitement over the victory, crediting his entire team, including trainers Archie Cox and Karli Postel, as well as his family and teammates. Postel praised Anson’s work ethic and natural connection with Celestino, highlighting their impressive performance under pressure.

Anson and Celestino’s partnership began earlier this year, and despite the horse being relatively new to equitation, they have already achieved notable success, including winning the second round of the California Professional Horsemen’s Association finals in the 14-and-under category. The win not only marks a personal milestone for Anson but also represents a proud moment for young Canadian riders and the Nanaimo community.
