The Nampa City Council is set to hold another public hearing and vote on the transfer of the Ford Idaho Center to the College of Western Idaho (CWI) after discovering paperwork errors and alleged open meeting law violations that have delayed the process. Specifically, a deed for the Horse Park portion of the venue was not properly filed two decades ago, and some land parcels were not correctly recorded. Although these issues have been rectified, the council voted 3-3 in December to hold an additional vote out of caution. Mayor Debbie Kling expressed strong support for the transfer, emphasizing the potential for better utilization of the property.
Additionally, an investigation by the Twin Falls County Prosecuting Attorney found no secret decisions were made during executive sessions, only a procedural mistake, and confirmed that extensive public discussions have taken place, demonstrating transparency. The new public hearing and vote are scheduled for December 1 at Nampa City Hall as the city moves forward with finalizing the transfer.
