My World, owned by Robert V. LaPenta and Madaket Stables and trained by Brad Cox, won the $150,000 Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack, narrowly defeating the favorite Balboa. The victory earned My World 10 Kentucky Derby qualifying points and marked his third consecutive win at Aqueduct. Jockey Jaime Rodriguez guided the colt from a stalking position to a strong finish, overcoming some in-race challenges as My World showed both talent and room for mental improvement.
Balboa, trained by Brittany Russell and ridden by Manny Franco, finished second, adding five Derby points to his total. Despite the loss, Franco praised Balboa’s competitive effort from an outside post. My World, a $350,000 Keeneland yearling purchase, improved his record to 4-3-0-0 with earnings of $82,500. The Jerome Stakes win positions him well for future Derby prep races as he continues to mature and develop.
