Museum Mile Wins 70th Arima Kinen in Thrilling Comeback at Nakayama

Museum Mile, the third favorite, won the 70th Arima Kinen at Nakayama Racecourse, marking the 3-year-old colt’s second Grade 1 victory. Ridden by Italian jockey Cristian Demuro, Museum Mile stayed near the back for most of the race before making a strong late surge to narrowly defeat Cosmo Kuranda by half a length, earning a prize of 500 million yen ($3.2 million).

Finishing the 2,500-meter race in 2 minutes, 31.5 seconds, Museum Mile outpaced second-favorite Danon Decile, who came in third, and favorite Regaleira, who placed fourth while attempting to become the first filly to win the race consecutively. Demuro celebrated the win as “revenge for last year,” having narrowly lost the previous Arima Kinen by a nose. Museum Mile previously secured his first Grade 1 title at the Satsuki Sho in April.
