Law enforcement officials from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office seized multiple animals, including up to three horses, from a property in Buckeye, Arizona, on Tuesday due to suspected neglect. Photos shared by the sheriff’s office showed one horse appearing extremely thin with visible bones. The animals were taken to a facility for medical care, but no further details about the incident have been released.
Maricopa County, where Buckeye is located, is a large and populous area encompassing much of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, known locally as “The Valley.” It is the fourth largest U.S. county by population, with over 4.4 million residents, and includes numerous cities in both the East and West Valley regions. The county is notable for its extensive park system and serves as a major population and cultural center in Arizona.
