At the Agria Royal International Horse Show, Craig Kiddier and Susan Tennant’s Mulberry Lane triumphed in the Barberstown Castle supreme ridden horse class for the second consecutive year, overcoming a slip and losing a stirrup during the individual show. Despite the mishap, their composure in a dramatic ride-off against Robert Walker and Flash Point secured their victory, much to the crowd’s delight. Meanwhile, Robert Whitaker achieved a rare feat by winning both the Hickstead Derby and the Al Shira’aa King George V Gold Cup in the same year, showcasing an outstanding performance on his stallion Vermento.
In a heartwarming display of sportsmanship at the Royal Welsh Show, newcomer David Newsome credited fellow competitor Lowri Reed for guiding him through the Welsh section C yearling filly class, which helped him secure his first win. Having limited prior experience, David was initially overwhelmed but Lowri’s kindness in advising him on how to proceed was pivotal to his success, highlighting a rare and commendable act of camaraderie in competitive equestrian sport.
