Motorcyclists Arrested After Riding Through High-Profile Event and Hitting Dog: Bodycam Footage Released

Police have released bodycam footage showing two motorcyclists, Reece Murray and Alfi Lleshi, being arrested after riding through a high-profile event and hitting a dog at Burghley Horse Trials. The incident occurred on September 7 last year at Burghley House near Stamford. The motorcyclists failed to stop for police, performed wheelies, and narrowly avoided pedestrians before being stopped by event security and arrested.

Murray and Lleshi appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court and were both sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for a year, after admitting to various driving offenses. Murray was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work, complete a rehabilitation activity requirement, and was disqualified from driving for a year. Lleshi received the same sentence for failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, and driving with an obscured registration mark.

PC Joe Woolf from the Road Policing Unit condemned the motorcyclists’ actions, stating that their riding through a pedestrianized area at a busy event was despicable. He thanked the security staff for their assistance in pursuing and arresting the pair. The incident resulted in a dog being injured, pedestrians having to jump out of the way, and parents grabbing their children for safety. Woolf emphasized that the motorcyclists showed no regard for their own safety or that of others.
