The Mopako Ranch Festive Derby is an upcoming cultural and horse riding event in Botswana that celebrates the Basarwa community’s equestrian talents and rich heritage. Organized by Mopako Ranch in partnership with the Botswana Society and supported by sponsors like Multi Task Distribution and Himoinsa, the event aims to promote Botswana horse breeds, groom local Basarwa riders, and showcase Kanaku culture. Following a successful inaugural event in April, the second edition is scheduled for December 31, 2025, with additional activities including a Back to School celebration on January 2, 2026.

Beyond entertainment, the event seeks to empower the local community by creating employment opportunities and boosting the local economy through tourism, leveraging its strategic location on the Trans Kalahari Road. Mopako Ranch is also developing infrastructure such as a conference hall to support community gatherings and hopes to elevate the Festive Derby into an internationally recognized horse riding event, attracting visitors worldwide while promoting clean, family-friendly fun.
