Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers LAW DOG 2025: Honoring Lt. Chris Picou and Recognizing Top K9 Teams

Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers LAW DOG 2025 took place at Madison Central High School and was hosted by the Madison Police Department and Rankin County Sheriff’s Office. The event featured nearly 40 K9 teams from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Oklahoma who were certified in various areas such as Obedience, Bite Work, Area Search, Vehicle Search, Narcotics Detection, and Explosive Detection. This year’s event was dedicated to the late Lt. Chris Picou of the Madison Police Department, with his silhouette and K9 Roscoe featured on the official T-shirt.

Following the training and certification, a competition was held in categories such as Building Search, Bite Work, Narcotics, Obedience, Overall Patrol, and Explosives. Winners included K9 teams such as Ben Uhiren and K9 Conan, Derrick Scott and K9 Challenger, BJ Gladney and K9 Asin, Matt Moulds and K9 Hassan, and DeReginald Williamson and K9 Bory. DeReginald Williamson and K9 Bory were named the Overall Top Dog of the competition.

The event not only provided valuable training and certification for K9 teams but also honored the memory of Lt. Chris Picou. The competition showcased the skills and abilities of the participating K9 teams, with DeReginald Williamson and K9 Bory emerging as the top performers in the overall competition.
