Maverick Wright, a 12-year-old from Milton-Freewater, is set to compete in the U.S. dressage Federation Region 6 at the North American Youth Championships, held from July 29 to August 3 in Traverse City, Michigan. This event is recognized as North America’s premier equestrian competition for riders aged 12 to 25 and follows the rules of the international governing body, Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI).
Riding a Welsh Cob gelding named Maple Lane Kero, or Peach, Wright is among the youngest participants and aspires to represent the U.S. at the Working Equitation Youth World Championship in 2027. The championships are notable as the only annual FEI event in North America, showcasing top young equestrian talent.
