This weekend, the Millstreet International Horse Trials celebrates its 10th anniversary at the Duggan family’s Green Glens arena in Co Cork, Ireland, featuring over 400 horses from 13 nations. The event runs from May 29 to June 1 and includes classes ranging from CCI1-Intro to CCI4-L, as well as qualifiers for the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse competition. The renowned cross-country courses, designed by Mike Etherington-Smith, attract both young riders and seasoned competitors.
Notable participants include Britain’s dual Olympic gold medallist Laura Collett, who will compete with several horses, including her new ride Drumgiven Mr Charisma. Other top riders such as Australia’s Andrew Hoy and Kevin McNab, along with Britain’s Emily King and American Hallie Coon, will also be present. The event showcases a strong representation from Ireland, featuring prominent riders like Austin O’Connor and Joseph Murphy.
Event director Thomas Duggan expressed excitement about welcoming both new and returning competitors, highlighting the strong entries as a testament to the event’s reputation for showcasing Irish horses and hospitality. Admission is free for the public, and live-streaming of the event will be available through the Millstreet website and social media channels.
