Mijas Annual Full Moon Horseback Ride Set for August 9 with New Features and Scenic Route

Mijas is hosting its annual Full Moon Horseback Ride on Saturday, August 9, at 8 pm, celebrating the town’s rich equestrian culture and rural heritage. For the first time, Mijas Council is collaborating with the Caballista Virgen de la Peña to organize the event, which starts at the Peña Caballista Virgen de la Peña’s stables in El Esparragal Park. The four-hour ride traverses scenic natural landmarks such as Río de Las Pasadas and Arroyo Seco, with four stops offering drinks, tapas, and festive entertainment.

New features this year include horse-drawn carriages to enhance accessibility and charm, and exclusive surprise gifts for the first 100 registrants. Registration is open by phone for participants with horses or carriages, with fees covering refreshments and the gift. The event highlights Mijas’ commitment to preserving its rural identity and invites both locals and expats to partake in this unique community celebration under the full moon.
