Mickael Barzalona continued his impressive form by winning the 2026 International Jockeys’ Challenge at King Abdulaziz Racecourse. The French jockey, who recently secured major Group 1 victories including the Japan Cup and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, dominated the four-race event featuring 14 top jockeys worldwide. Barzalona claimed both turf heats, notably guiding Year Of The Dragon to victory in the final round, while Norwegian Frida Valle-Skar and British rider Saffie Osborne finished second and third overall, respectively.
The competition showcased diverse talent and adaptability, with riders adjusting to different racing surfaces and styles. Valle-Skar, who had not ridden on dirt for a decade, expressed satisfaction with her performance, while Osborne praised her mount’s ease in the opening dirt race. Nina Baltromei also made a significant impact by winning the second round on Abbeyah, highlighting the event’s high level of competition and international appeal.
