Rescue teams in Calhoun County, Michigan, responded to an incident where four horses wandered onto a frozen pond at Turtle Creek Golf Course, causing the ice to break and the animals to become trapped in shallow water. The Calhoun County Area Law Enforcement Underwater Rescue Team (ALURT), along with multiple local fire departments, worked together to manually extract the horses from the icy water.
All four horses were successfully rescued and returned to dry land, where they were able to walk away and were subsequently examined by veterinarians to ensure their health. The incident highlights the coordinated efforts of local emergency responders in safely rescuing animals from hazardous situations.
