Trainer Michael Maker and jockey Ricardo Santana, Jr. dominated the co-feature races at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, winning both the Lady Finger Stakes and the Aspirant Stakes for New York-bred 2-year-olds. Oh, owned by William Butler, captured the $116,528 Lady Finger Stakes with a time of 1:06.06, narrowly defeating Liberty’s Advance. Meanwhile, Arctic Beast won the $104,338 Aspirant Stakes decisively by over seven lengths in 1:04.13, remaining undefeated in two starts and earning $153,838 for his owners.
Earlier in the day, Zi End won the $50,000 Niagara Stakes by nearly ten lengths, and Hit the Post secured a dominant six and a half length victory in the Ontario County Stakes. Both the Aspirant and Lady Finger Stakes serve as key prep races for the upcoming $200,000 New York Breeders’ Futurity, scheduled for October 13, highlighting the significance of these events in the New York-bred racing circuit.
