Wilson College has appointed Melanie Vest as the new head coach of its Phoenix equestrian hunt seat team. Vest brings extensive experience from her previous roles at Bridgewater College, where she served as head coach and assistant professor of equine science, and as owner and head trainer of Hat Trick Equestrian. She is praised for her expertise and enthusiasm, and will also contribute academically by teaching classes in Wilson’s equine studies program.
Athletic Director Tina Hill and Equine Studies Director Janice Holland expressed excitement about Vest’s dual role, highlighting her ability to advance both the athletic and academic aspects of the program. Vest, a lifelong equestrian, is eager to join the Wilson community and begin coaching the team in December, aiming to build on the program’s success and foster a strong team environment.
