Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti criticized the BJP for not acknowledging the abnormal situation in J&K, created by draconian laws and force of agencies. She urged the government to reconsider its approach and reach out to the people to build confidence.
Mufti accused the current administration of failing to address economic and political challenges in the region, highlighting ongoing crackdowns, repression, and disempowerment. She called out Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for potentially endorsing the decision to abrogate Article 370 in the formulation of business rules for the assembly, which she believes would legitimize illegal actions by the BJP.
Mufti emphasized the need to reopen key trade routes to boost the region’s economy, including routes like Uri-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakot. She also called for the revival of the Jammu-Sialkot route to provide a market for Jammu’s products, as she believes Jammu is increasingly being sidelined.
