Xanthus, a 17-year-old 13.2hh grade gelding, is this week’s featured adoptable horse from Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in Union, Mo. Xanthus arrived as a surrender in 2022 and quickly became a favorite among staff and volunteers due to his spunky personality and love for attention. He has a hyper-sensitivity to poor saddle fit, likely due to a history of ill-fitting equipment, but does well with English saddles with a seat size of 15″ and under. Xanthus has shown his true potential on trail rides and requires a confident, balanced rider.
Xanthus is a personable and sweet pony who tends to be at the top of the pecking order in his herd. He has a “wants to please” attitude and would be a great fit for someone confident enough to be his leader. Potential adopters should be prepared to work with Xanthus and provide him with the right saddle fit to help him reach his full potential. Contact Longmeadow Rescue Ranch for more information about adopting Xanthus, the ASPCA Right Horse Adoptable Horse of the Week.
The ASPCA Right Horse program, in partnership with organizations like Longmeadow Rescue Ranch, aims to increase horse adoption in the United States.
