Meet Stephanie Turner: The Royal Windsor M&M Judge Looking for True Type and Performance

The open mountain and moorland ridden classes at Royal Windsor are highly competitive due to the prestige of winning and the bonus ticket to the London International Horse Show’s Heritage Championship. Competitors will be judged by Lizzie Briant-Finlayson for conformation and Stephanie Turner for performance. Stephanie has a lifetime of experience with ponies and has judged at prestigious shows internationally.

Stephanie Turner will be looking for ponies that go true to their type and breed description, with a focus on the walk during the go round and individual show. She also values ponies that look through the bridle, are mannerly, and show a change in pace during the extension. Stephanie aims to find ponies that she would like to ride herself, emphasizing the importance of practice for competitors.

Stephanie has judged at various prestigious shows and has experience with a range of native ponies, including her own New Forest pony Ravenstone Fudge. She has specific criteria for M&M competitors to impress her at Royal Windsor, including staying true to breed type and showing good manners and performance. Competitors should focus on their pony’s walk, look through the bridle, and ability to change pace during the extension.
