A rumor circulating on social media that horseback riding has been banned on Medora streets is false, according to the city’s Planning and Zoning board. The misunderstanding likely arose from a policy regulating commercial horse-drawn wagon operations, which requires licensed operators to follow designated routes and obtain permits, particularly restricting access to Pacific Avenue to manage traffic congestion as the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library prepares to open.
Board President Jim Bridger clarified that these regulations apply only to commercial wagon businesses and do not affect recreational horseback riding, which remains unrestricted within the city. The policy aims to control traffic flow on Medora’s main street during peak visitor times, ensuring safety and smooth movement without banning horses outright.
