McLeod County 4-H’ers participated in the Minnesota 4-H State Horse show at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds after winning a trip at the County 4-H Qualifying Horse Show. Participants who completed sixth grade and excelled in pleasure or games classes were given the opportunity to compete at the state level with their horses.
At the 2016 State 4-H Horse Show, participants demonstrated their skills and knowledge in various categories such as hippology, horse judging, horse training, speech and demonstrations, showmanship, and drill team skills. Results included Hayley Bolland placing 58 in senior individual hippology and 18 in senior team hippology, Anna Byron placing 9 in western pleasure grade 7, and Aliya Emme placing in various categories such as hippology, horse judging, jumping figure 8, and key race.
Other participants included Margaret Goebel placing 2 in saddle seat equitation, Lane Hacker participating in games classes, Natalie Johnson participating in games and pleasure classes and placing in hippology, Tayler Jutz placing in hippology, horse judging, and participating in pleasure classes, and Donnae Morton placing in hippology. Rebecca Olson also participated in pleasure classes.
