On June 13, 2025, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Swift Water Team responded to an emergency on the Potomac River near the Virginia shoreline involving two people reported in the water. The team successfully rescued an adult male who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and transported him for medical care.
A second individual, a minor, was also rescued and handed over to the National Capitol Park Police to be reunited with family. MCFRS continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates if more verified information becomes available.
