Kaitlin Mason, a 25-year-old from Marton, achieved remarkable success at the London International Horse Show with her horse Alfie, also known as Questiontime. Initially bought as a family horse during the Covid pandemic with no major competitive ambitions, Alfie and Kaitlin quickly rose through the ranks, qualifying multiple times for the prestigious event. After placing fifth in previous years, they won the Small/Lightweight Hunter title in December 2025, competing against 22 top qualifiers from across the country. This victory led them to claim the Supreme Hunter Championship, a significant achievement given that Kaitlin manages and rides Alfie entirely on her own without professional assistance.
Kaitlin’s win is especially notable because she is a home-producer, emphasizing that Alfie is a family horse who enjoys a relaxed life outside of competition. She hopes her success will inspire other amateur riders who produce their own horses to participate in high-level shows. Having dreamed of competing at this level since childhood, Kaitlin describes the win as a special moment, highlighting the challenges of the showing world where connections often outweigh merit. Her story underscores the potential for dedicated amateurs to succeed on big stages through passion and hard work.
