Martha Stewart recently adopted two horses, Stewart and Ulysses, from Dorset Equine Rescue in Vermont, bringing them to her New York home. These horses were part of a large-scale seizure involving seventy horses, many of which the Dorset rescue has taken in over the past few years. The rescue staff expressed gratitude for Stewart’s support, highlighting that her adoption helps free up space to assist more horses in need and raises awareness of their mission within local communities.
The Dorset Equine Rescue continues to care for the remaining horses from the seizure, many of which are still undergoing rehabilitation and are not yet ready for adoption. Barn manager Tiffany Vittum emphasized the importance of high-profile adoptions like Stewart’s in generating support and resources, as the rescue frequently receives requests to help horses in difficult situations. Overall, the adoption has been a positive development for the rescue, enabling them to further their work in saving and rehabilitating horses.
