Marlborough’s 30-member Special Olympics team delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 Special Olympics Summer Games in Christchurch, held from December 10-14. The athletes competed across various sports, bringing home numerous medals and creating lasting memories. Highlights include Hannah Dickens winning gold, silver, and bronze in equestrian events, Benn Thomas securing multiple medals in powerlifting, and James earning a bronze in 5v5 basketball.
The team also excelled in golf and swimming, with Simon Ridder and Tamati Matene winning silver medals in individual golf events, and several swimmers like Josh Cooke, Amy Fitzgerald, and Jessica Tyson achieving gold in their respective races. Overall, Marlborough’s athletes showcased strong skill and determination, contributing to a successful and memorable Games experience.
