Marjorie Stratton, Lifelong Hunt Supporter, Dies Peacefully Aged 86

Marjorie Stratton, a lifelong supporter of hunting, passed away peacefully at home on 27 January 2026 at the age of 86. Known for her deep love of hunting and family, Marj was actively involved with various hunting packs, including the Mendip Farmers, Beaufort, and Dulverton West, and later enjoyed hunting with basset hounds. She was highly respected for her knowledge and skill in hunting, often walking puppies and providing valuable “hound sense” during hunts. Marj also took great pride in supporting her children and grandchildren in their sporting pursuits, earning recognition from the Pony Club for her long-standing contributions.

Marj grew up in the north-east before moving to Somerset in 1964, marrying Roger Stratton in 1966. Together, they were prominent figures in the hunting community and farmed near Bath. After Roger’s death in April 2025, Marj continued to be a cherished member of her local community in Zeals, where she had a close circle of friends. Her passing is deeply mourned by family, friends, and the wider hunting community, who remember her as a special and supportive presence.
