Male Jockeys Triumph in Thrilling Tuffa Boots Jockeys Challenge at London International Horse Show

The London International Horse Show concluded with the thrilling Tuffa Boots Jockeys Challenge Cup, a showjumping contest between teams of male and female jockeys competing to raise funds for The Injured Jockeys Fund. Under the management of William and Pippa Funnell, the male team, led by champion Flat jockey Oisin Murphy and featuring former jump champion Brian Hughes, secured a decisive victory with a combined winning margin of over 20 seconds. Hughes impressed with the fastest time of the evening despite arriving from a busy race day, while Richie McLernon humorously continued the tradition of a festive fall but remounted to finish strong.

The female team, captained by Megan Nicholls, delivered a stylish performance but ultimately finished second after a stewards’ inquiry adjusted scores. Both teams expressed enthusiasm for the event’s competitive spirit and its charitable cause, with jockeys praising the Injured Jockeys Fund for its vital support. The event was celebrated for its high energy, camaraderie, and contribution to a worthy charity, highlighting the unique blend of racing and showjumping talents among jockeys.
