Major, a rare Highland Pony and one of only 5,000 of his breed, is set to perform at Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, the UK’s largest outdoor theatre event in County Durham. Beloved by the late Queen Elizabeth II, who helped conserve the breed, Major will appear alongside Cosmo, a rare grey shire horse, in Viking scenes of the show. The pony has quickly become a favorite among the cavalry team and volunteers, impressing with his natural stage presence and unique personality.
Kynren’s 90-minute performance showcases 2,000 years of English history through action-packed scenes featuring horses, cattle, sheep, and geese. Major’s addition marks the tenth anniversary of the summer shows, running Saturdays from 19 July to 13 September, offering audiences a captivating blend of history and live animal performances.
