A major gastro festival dedicated to kumys, the traditional Kazakh national drink, will be held at the “Qazanat” hippodrome in Astana on July 19–20. The event will feature around 50 kumys producers and horse breeders from across Kazakhstan, attracting an expected 50,000–60,000 visitors. Attendees can sample various kumys varieties, learn about Kazakh horse breeds, and enjoy an ethno-cultural program.

A key highlight is the “Best Kumys” competition with a prize fund of 45 million tenge, awarding 20 million for first place, 15 million for second, and 10 million for third. The festival aims to promote Kazakh food culture, showcase kumys as a symbol of health and hospitality, and support agrotourism and horse breeding development. Organizers also aspire to elevate the event to an international level akin to Oktoberfest.
