Magnitude Surges to Top Spot in NTRA Poll After Dubai World Cup Victory

This week’s NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll saw a dramatic shift as Magnitude surged from sixth to first place following his impressive victory over reigning Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Forever Young in the Dubai World Cup at Meydan. Trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by Jose Ortiz, Magnitude secured his third consecutive win, building on strong performances in the Clark Stakes and Razorback Handicap. Magnitude received 14 first-place votes, narrowly edging out Sovereignty, who ranked second with 12 first-place votes despite not racing yet in 2026.

In the Top 3-Year-Old Poll, Renegade claimed the top spot with 18 first-place votes after winning the Arkansas Derby, while Florida Derby winner Commandment ranked second with 11 first-place votes. Last week’s leader, Paladin, was sidelined due to a right front ankle injury, removing him from Triple Crown contention and causing a reshuffle in the rankings. These changes highlight the rapidly evolving landscape in horse racing as new contenders emerge and injuries impact the field.
