Madison Jacob, a soft-spoken Hahnville High student, has developed a deep bond with her horse Marty, leading her to win the 4-H State Grand Champion title at the LSU AgCenter Horse Show for the third time since her first win at age 10. Inspired by her brother Dylan, Madison quickly excelled in horse riding competitions, forming connections with several horses over the years, including her first pony Frosty and rescue horse Fancy. Her latest champion, Marty, a muscular quarter horse with a spirited attitude, was chosen after a trip to Texas and shares a birthday close to Madison’s, symbolizing their special connection.
Beyond the trophies, Madison values the friendships and support system she’s found through 4-H, where camaraderie and mutual encouragement are as important as competition. With the guidance of her trainer Steve Naquin, she dedicates herself to rigorous practice and horse care, while also mentoring younger riders. Her mother, Gaynell, highlights how 4-H has taught Madison responsibility, accountability, and the joy of community, making the experience about more than just winning.
